Valentine's Day-Hands-on

Our class completed a M&M activity on hands-on day dealing with fractions. They had to find the fraction of each color represented, find an equivalent fraction for each, order them from least to greatest, then eat & enjoy!!
We had some very creative Valentine's boxes to arrive. 1st place-Zoey, 2nd place-Dawson, 3rd place-Morgan! Congrats!

Totally Hands-on Tuesday

Edible soil-We have been discussing the different types of soil and the layers. Today, we made our own soil and dicussed the layers. Bedrock (graham crackers), subsoil (pudding), topsoil with humus (oreos), and surface we used worms because they provide nutrients for the soil.
We made star ornaments to be hung up on the Christmas tree on the square. One side, they decorated as they pleased and on the other side they used an author's purpose (inform, entertain, or persuade) to write about christmas.

We also presented a Reader's Theatre play about "The First Thanksgiving"
We created a story web using yarn. I started the story and passed the yarn to another person in the circle and they continued the story. We continued the story until all students had a chance to contribute to the story.

Weathering & Erosion

We conducted a small weathering and erosion experiment in class to illustrate what happens during the weathering and erosion process. We used water, "wind" and gravity to illustarte!
